BHARAT SANCHAR NIGAM LIMITED, Northern Telecom Region, New Delhi invites applications typed on A4 size paper in the prescribed Performa from eligible candidates for the post of Telecom Technical Assistant (TTAs) for the year 2008 vacancies, as per details given below:-.

IDA Pay Scale :             Rs. 7100-200-10100  plus usual allowances as per rules.

           

Eligibility :             Only Indian nationals would be eligible to apply.

 

Educational  qualification : The Applicant must possess, as on the last date of receiving applications, the educational qualifications in any of the following disciplines from a recognized Institute/University:

 

a)                  Three Years Engineering Diploma in

-         Telecommunications Engineering

-         Electronics Engineering

-         Electrical Engineering

-         Radio Engineering

-         Computer Engineering

-         Instruments Technology

-         Information Technology

 

b)                  M.Sc.(Electronics) from a recognized Institution/University.

 

Note:      (a) Only above mentioned disciplines are accepted.

(b) Candidates possessing higher qualification in the eligible stream are   

      allowed to appear in the examination.

 (c) Candidates possessing Three Year Diploma certificates are eligible to

       appear in the Exam irrespective of percentage of marks obtained by

       them.

 (d) In case a candidate is possessing requisite educational qualification,

       irrespective of having entered the course in the 2nd year through lateral

       entry level after 10+2, he/she will be eligible to appear in the exam.

Age limit  :     

            The applicant should be between 18 to 27 years of age.

a)                  However, this age is relax able for following categories of applications

 

(i)                  For Scheduled Castes & Scheduled Tribes up to 5 years.

(ii)                For OBC Candidates up to 3 years.

(iii)               For departmental candidates-

-               up to 40 years in respect of general candidates

-               up to 45 years in respect of SC/ST candidates.

-               up to 43 years in respect of OBC candidates.

 

(iv)              For Residents of J&K- Relaxation shall be in accordance with DO

P&T O.M. No. 15012/7/1991-Estt.(d) dtd. 6.12.2005 pertaining to “Residents of State of Jammu and Kashmir (relaxation of Upper   

            Age Limit for Recruitment to Central Civil Services & Posts)

            Rules 1997”.

 

Note: The crucial date for determining the age limit shall be the closing date of receipt of applications (i.e.14/11/2008 ).

 

Examination Fee:     The examination fee (non-refundable) of Rs.500/=(Rs. Five Hundred only.) is to be sent along with application form by Demand Draft/ Indian Postal Order  payable to Account Officer (Cash), BSNL, NTR, at New Delhi.  No examination fee is required to be paid in respect of SC/ST candidates.

 

Syllabus & Medium of Examination: - The Syllabus for the examination is Annexed (published in this advertisement).  Candidate will have the option to answer either in Hindi or English                                                             

                                                                                   

Examination Center:- The examination center will be at  New Delhi.

 

Unit of recruitment & service liability: - Normally within the NTR, New Delhi which is the unit of recruitment in which the candidate applies. Candidates if required, are also liable to serve in the Territorial Army /Signal Unit in accordance with rules made there under.

 

Medical Fitness:-            The selected candidates will be required to undergo a medical test to ensure that they are physically fit and mentally alert to perform the duties expected of a TTA before sending them on TTA’s training.

Bond, Training & probation Period:- All candidates provisionally recruited shall execute a Bond for a period of two years from the date of their appointment in the format specified by the BSNL and shall remain on probation period of two years. The candidate selected, before their appointments as TTAs, shall have to undergo the prescribed training successfully as per the training plan laid down by the BSNL. During the period of training the direct recruited TTAs will be entitled to get stipend as decided by BSNL. The seniority  of the candidates will be decided on their post training marks.

 

Closing date of application:- The applications completed in all respect along with the attested photocopies of the documents should be sent by Registered Post only addressed to the Assistant General Manager (R&E),O/o the Chief General Manager (MTCE.) Northern Telecom Region, Room No : 266, Kidwai Bhawan, Janpath, New Delhi  Pin - 110001 so as reach in this office on or before 14/11/2008 by 1700 Hrs. positively.

 

Application received after the closing date or incomplete in any respect, shall be summarily rejected and no communication in respect of the rejected application forms shall be entertained. BSNL shall not be responsible for any postal delay. The envelope containing the application form should be marked with heading as “APPLICATION FOR THE POST OF TTA”.

 

Enclosures

 

Three recent passport size colored photograph (front face), out of which one should be pasted on space provided in the application form, dully attested by a Gazetted officer. Two other copies should be pasted on space provide on Admit Card(duplicate copy) duly attested by a Gazetted officer. Any variation in the photograph may lead to rejection of his/her candidature.

 

One self address post card duly affixed with Rs. 6/- postage stamps for acknowledgement of the application. The candidate must  indicate the Name of Post, Advertisement No. on the post card.       

 

Two self addressed stamped envelopes of size 23x11 cm must be enclosed along with the application form.

SCHEME & SYLLABUS FOR TTA DIRECT RECRUITMENT EXAMINATION

                                          

The standard of paper in General ability test will be such as may be expected of an Engineering Diploma holder. The standards of papers in other subjects will approximately be that of Diploma level of an Indian polytechnic. There shall be a single multiple choice objective type paper of 3 hours duration as per details given below:

Part- I:            General ability test --- 20 marks

           

The candidate’s comprehension and understanding of General English shall be tested through simple exercise such as provision of antonyms and synonyms, fill in the blanks and multiple choice exercise etc. This shall also include question on current events, general knowledge and such matters of everyday observation and experience as may be expected of Diploma holder.

 

Part- II:            Basic Engineering –90 Marks

 

Detailed syllabus is as under :-

 

1.             Applied Mathematics:  Co-ordinate Geometry; Vector Algebra; Matrix & Determinant; Differential Calculus; Integral Calculus; Differential equation of second order; Fourier series; Laplace Transform; Complex  Number; Partial Differentiation.

2.             Applied Physics:  Measurement  -- Units and Dimension; Waves Acoustics; Ultrasonic; Light; Laser and its Application; Atomic Structure and Energy Levels.

3.             Basics Electricity: Electrostatics, Coulomb’s law; Electric field; Gauss’s theorem; concept of potential difference, concept of capacitance and capacitors, Ohm’s law, power and energy, Kirchoff’s voltage, current laws and their applications in simple DC Circuits; Basic Magnetism; Electro Magnetism; Electromagnetic Induction; Concept of alternating voltage & current; Cells & Batteries, Voltage & Current Sources; Thevenin’s theorem, Norton’s theorem and their applications.

4.             Electronic Devices and circuits: Classification of materials into conductor, Semi conductor, insulator etc. electrical properties, magnetic materials, various types of relays, switches and connectors. Conventional representation of electric and electronic circuits elements. Active and passive components; semi conductor physics; Semiconductor Diode; Bipolar Transistor & their circuits; Transistor Biasing stabilization of operating   point;  Single stage transistor  amplifier;  field   effect  transistor, MOSFET circuits applications.

            Three phases vs single phase supply, Star Delta connections, relation between phase & line voltage, power factor and their measurements; Construction and principles of working of various types of electrical measuring instruments. All types of motor and generator-AC & DC, transformers, starters, rectifiers, inverters, battery charges, batteries, servo and stepper motors, contactor control circuits, switchgear, relays, protection devices & schemes, substation, protective relaying, circuits breaker generator protection, transformer protection, feeder & lightening protection , feeder & bus bar protection, lightening arrestor, earthing, voltage stabilizer & regulators, power control devices & circuits, phase controlled rectifiers, inverters, choppers, dual converters, cycloconverters, power electronics application in control of drivers, refrigeration & air conditioning.

 

2             Communication

 

            Modulation and demodulation-principles and operation of various types of AM, FM and PM modulators/ demodulators; pulse modulation-TDM, PAM,PPM,PWM; Multiplexing, principles and applications of PCM.

6          Microprocessors:

 

            Typical organization of a microcomputer systems & functions of its various blocks: Architecture of a Microprocessor; Memories and I/O interfacing; Brief idea of M/C assembly languages; Machines & mnemonic codes; Instructions format and Addressing mode, concept of instruction set; programming exercises in assembly language; concept of interrupt; Data transfer techniques- sync data transfer,  interrupt driven data transfer, DMA; Serial output data, Serial input data.
